"Capt" Kirk has been singing for most of his life with influences ranging from Steve Perry, Sammy Hagar and Sabastian Bach, to name just a few. He also enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time developing his rhythm guitar skills . Being part of Hyrd Gunz and contributing to a band that has a wide variety of musical influences is exactly what he was looking for.
He has years of music experience under his belt playing with many bands from the Ottawa Valley and surrounding areas.. He is also looking forward to adding his vocal print to "Hyrd Gunz" original music which he looks forward to doing in the future. As he continues to push himself as a vocalist to add a Hallmark to "Hyrd Gunz", he lives to play live and can`t wait to rock on at a venue near you.
Jayson "Flash" - Lead Guitar and Vocals
Jayson has been playing guitar for over 20 years. He grew up listening and learning the music that has become the bands signature sound. Through years of watching others, singing along and enjoying music in all forms, he has become a well rounded musician and vocalist, constantly wanting to learn and thriving to be the best that he can be.
Jayson has played in many bands around the Ottawa Valley area over the last 15 years and enjoys the live aspect of performing for people. The first band being a four piece band called A-Team which played High School functions and parties, followed by a Glam rock five piece band called Doxie which was geared towards 80`s heavy-pop-rock. Next, he got into the country style of things with a 4 piece band called Lightning Strikes which established the newer country twist that is heard in today's New Country. He also enjoys teaching guitar, in all styles of music to sharpen up his own skills while helping others enjoy the instrument.
He has always been looking for great musicians with vocal ability, with great personalities and great attitudes. With the Hyrd Gunz rhythm-percussion section and superb lead and backing vocals, he has found that missing ingredient. So if you want to hear great music and dance the night away, look no further. Hyrd Gunz is just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy and we hope to see you all very soon.
Daniel "L.A.Steel" - Bass Guitar and Vocals
Born in the Ottawa area (Perth) and living in Renfrew for the first 2 years, then on to Campbell's Bay, Quebec, Daniel spent his teens living in smalltown Northern Ontario before moving to Prince Edward Island. Like Herve, he was born with a guitar on his lap. He has been playing in cover and original bands professionally for 20 years.
He has toured all over Canada and the East Coast with country, pop, rock and heavy rock, he has a CD under his belt, and that CD lead to his original band Negative J opening for the likes of Finger Eleven and some amazing east coast bands. Now back in the Ottawa area after 20 years, he brings an intense and fun energy to the stage. Multi-styled, he plays a thunderous 5 string bass and also plays a rare 10 string bass (you should see and hear this beast!!!).
Daniel is also an accomplished guitar player, and he enjoys collecting instruments of all sorts. His favourite hobbies include reading and watching Science Fiction (yea.. a nerd... ) so don't be shy, tap him on the shoulder and say hello.
Hervé "Dez" - Guitars, Keyboards, Mandolin and Vocals
I was born with a guitar on my lap.The elder of the group, music has been a big part of my life for over forty years.Born in the Maritimes, my roots are based on traditional Celtic music, but my greatest love has always been Rock & Roll.Rarely more than an arms length away from my guitar, I love a good solid beat and thrive on the energy of the audience.Band experiences range from traditional Celtic stuff in my youth, to more modern Rock & Roll venues in the Halifax region of Nova Scotia.
Musically inactive in the Ottawa Valley for about four years, my recent connection with Hyrd Gunz has led me to clean up my guitars and I've been having a great time.Because of the 70's, 80's & 90's style of music played by Hyrd Gunz, I saw a need for the addition of a synthesizer / keyboard and took up the challenge.This has been a treat for me musically, as the keys, guitars and now the Mandolin keep me really busy.
I'm really proud to be a member of this group and I can think of no one else I would rather share a stage with.
I am fully dedicated to this project and look forward to the future with "Hyrd Gunz".
John "Animal" - Drums, Percussion and Vocals
As the man in charge with holding down the beat, "Animal" came to us with a history that tells you he was destined to play music. He started drumming at the tender age of seven, and was playing in his first band by the time he was 14 years old - after that he never turned back! His versatility has allowed him to play from country to heavy metal. He enjoys the challenge presented by the variety of styles the band embarks upon.
He is a true rocker with influences that range from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zepplin, Journey and The Sex Pistols. His main driving force however, was when he fell in love with Rush.
Known for his comic relief, Animal always seems to find an audience on or off stage. This easy going guy is always the life of a party.
